Akatsuki itself means dawn or daybreak and in Naruto it is a criminal ring that is trying to bring a new dawn of global control. This group keeps growing as the main villians in Naruto as the serries progresses. This group may only have 10 members at anyone time and 9 members at the min. because it is required to have 9 members for their demon seals. Their over all goal is world domination. This has many steps to their plan which the first being obtaining money and the demon tails. Currently the Akatsuki is in possession of 6 out of the 9 beasts (1 tailed Shukaku, 2 tailed cat, and the tree tailed beast are the only shown) Each member wears a ring which determines their spot on the seals hand. They then plan on working for cheap to ruin the ninja economy and then using the beasts to start wars. There would be little opposistion because of the fewer number of ninjas that can actually pose a threat to the Akatsuki. Each member wears the same thing to hide who they really are when they get into a fight but when they loss their hats during a fight, they never put them back on. They also wear forhead protectors of their formor villages only there is a scratch to symbolize cut ties and alligance. The only members shown without forhead protectors are Tobi, the Leader, and the Unnamed member. Also take note, Hidan does not wear one with a symbol of any known ninja village. Thats it for tidbits on the Akatsuki now for the members. Note that the poll is showing each members position in the Akatsuki, Tobi and Sasori share the same position cause Sasori died =P

Leader- The leader of Akatsuki is a mysterious figure. All of the other Akatsuki members refer to him as "leader," and his face is rarely shown. He has the respect of most of his subordinates and directs their actions. He is also the one to initiate and supervise the jutsu that forcibly brings a tailed beast out of its host. While the leader has remained mostly anonymous, the cover of chapter 317 depicts him with auburn hair and a glimpse of his lower face shows what appears to be either tattoos or piercings on either side of his nose. The leader has displayed at least a cursory knowledge of the various villages, as well as the underlying political and economic conditions in the country at large. When Hidan referred to the Konoha-nin as "godless heathens," the leader gave a short description of Konoha's "Will of Fire," then proceeded to note that all countries have some similar practice to justify their battles.

Deidara- a missing-nin from Iwagakure and the partner of Tobi. His gender is sometimes confused due to the Japanese language's sparse use of third person pronouns. Deidara speaks of himself using male pronouns and has been given a very deep, male voice in the anime. Deidara also has a habit of ending his sentences with "yeah" or "hmm." Deidara has become the most popular member of Akatsuki among fans in Japan. In the most recent character popularity poll, Deidara ranked in third place. Deidara was originally teamed with Sasori.

A fancy and skillful fighter, Deidara uses special mouths in the palm of each hand to manipulate clay into many shapes, often making animals from it. He commonly creates a flight-capable clay bird as a mode of transportation. In addition to making animals from the clay, he can make the clay explode on command. Deidara's first appearance is during his mission to kidnap Gaara from Sunagakure. Deidara initially seems to be no match for Gaara's powerful sand attacks. His forearm is even torn off by Gaara's Desert Coffin. The loss of his arm actually turns out to be part of his strategy. By threatening to destroy Sunagakure with a massive clay bomb, he successfully draws Gaara's attention away from the exploding clay that he had snuck into Gaara's sand through his mangled arm. Gaara is knocked unconscious by the subsequent explosion. Deidara remarked after winning that it was typical of a Kage to save his village over his own life. Deidara later faces off against Naruto Uzumaki and Kakashi Hatake. Deidara loses his right arm to Kakashi's Mangekyo Sharingan. Deidara has his arms reattached by Kakuzu sometime after this point, and now has Tobi as his new partner. Deidara gets impatient with Tobi fairly easily since Tobi rarely pays attention to what he is saying.
