BANNING ANIME!

They are thinking about Banning Anime in the US because of some idiot sent this letter to the president! heres how it went:

To: George Bush

Here in America, we live in a climate of moral decay. What is the cause of this? It is called "anime". Anime is a perverse, evil, insiduous form of animation from the dark land of Japan, and is corrupting America's youth at unprecedented rates. Here are a few examples of anime which are circulating on the Internet and may very well be in your home:

1) Ah My Goddess: A sick and disgusting show which causes children under the age of 18 to think they are capable of love. The main female character is clearly under 18, and is forced into a romantic relationship by an older man who "wishes" for her to be his girlfriend forever. He even KISSES her, and she appears NAKED. That poor girl must be so confused.

2) Love Hina: I'm not even going to mention the unspeakable, disgusting, pedophilic, pornograhpic events which transpire during this show, but suffice it to say, groups of young men on Love Hina-fueled rampages are raping children at a level unheard of since the 60s.

If you are a parent or a decent human being, I urge you to sign this petition to ban all forms of anime in the United States. Anyone who is found in possesion of anime should be arrested and jailed for an exhorbant period of time. Anime is a dark scourge upon our beautiful nation, and we don't need this Japanese filth corrupting the hearts of the children.

As a resonsible Christian, I demand to see this garbage removed from our nation. Please sign this petition and send it to George Bush, your Congressman, and the makers/distributors of anime filth and depravity.

This is soooooo not right. Sure some Animes are a little wierd but it's nothing that the U.s. (let alone the pres.) should ban.
Have you seen what's on tv lately? there are plenty of things worse than what's in Ah My Goddess and Love Hina. plus both shows are barley on the air so why should there even be a problem. the FCC lets things on tv that never should be on by the standards of what these people say. We're just lucky that it was sent to bush and not hillary, can you imagine the kind of H-e-l-l we'd be in if she got this letter? look what she did to video games.

The people who sent this letter are nutjobs. they're saying that bad thing are coming out of these shows...HA! That's what they said about video games.

my honest opinion? You don't like what's on Tv change the channel and shut up.

still if this was serious there would be an uprising of otaku's everywhere. c'mon doing time for watching pokemon (wait that is a crime if it's after season 1) doing time for watching perfectly good no gore, language or references: IGPX??? that would be completely idiotic.

and yes i'm pretty sure tihs is protected under the first amendment as free speech

Yeah, i know this will not happen, but i thought i would share this with my fellow Otakus and let u all know what i found!

Thanks for letting me know what you all think! Lets all hope this really doesn't happen!!!

Three resons that this would never happen.

1. This would be seen as an attempted to restrict speech and the Supreme Court would never let any bill pass that restricted expression.
2. Anime is part of the entertainment industry and it means money and all politicians love money.
3. Congress, the president, and the Supreme Court all have better things to do then ban anime and piss off a bunch of geeks and nerds.

The fact is letters like this get sent to politicians all the time. Some moral wack-job finds something that he sees unmoral and writes a letter to his congressman or woman demanding change. The truth is politicians read only 10% of the letters that sent to them and the president reads even less then 10% regardless who is in office. I guarantee you that president didn’t even see that letter.
