Anime Detour 2009 Orginization thread! (READ ME!!)

Okay, this is the list of people who HAVE NOT PAID ME FOR ANIME DETOUR!

Sadly the rooms are full (but you can see pictures of the hotel in my thread, but we will arrange carpooling. So far it's just me that's going to drive, and I MIGHT be able to get a parent to drive, but other than that I need people.

Another small note: pack light! Costumes + normal clothes = a lot of room.

Also, I WILL BE BRINGING FOOD! I'm really easy to contact/ find, and I'll have water/ easy to grab food in my room the whole weekend.

(One last note...) I am not going to be making costumes for people! I will draw you a step- by step pattern, but I will not sew it for you. Sorry.

Okay, now for a little more info in the form of a double post.

We've tried and tried in the past, but have never gotten to do a CHS Otaku Club photoshoot.

As some of you know, 90% of my time at Detour is spent either at photoshoots, or in the dealer's room. A few years ago we had an impromptu shoot outside my hotel room (that went into the court yard... *Sighs*) and I want a new picture for the archives.

This shoot will take place SATURDAY, some time in the afternoon, for a half hour. (Most people wear their favorite costume Saturday because it's a full day AND it's competition day.)

This shoot will be OUTSIDE the hotel and down the road a little. It is a very safe area, but realistic masks and weapons of any kind are banned! Anyone who wants to come is encouraged, and anyone not in cosplay or who doesn't want to be in the picture will be taking the photos.

Also, as I mentioned before, I will have food in my room. This will be for Club members (and my personal convention friends), and how much I buy will depend on how many people go (I'm assuming about 25 people this year). Like the past 2 years I'll have muffins, water, granola bars, etc. Not real meals, but enough to suffice you for 3 days.

Okay, before I begin, let it be known that most of this is not only common information, but definitely personal. 90% of every con-goer will agree with me on this post, but everyone is different. And this stuff is still important, even if you have been to a convention before.

-Be prepared. I don't only mean make sure you've packed 2 of everything, but literally prepare yourself for the day. The first day of the first con is... I don't know, intense? There is so much to take in and so much to do. Don't pretend that you can do everything at once. I've heard conventions compared to living things, like it has a pulse... And I suppose I agree with that. Take it easy at first.

-Follow the 3-2-1 rule. 3 hours of sleep, 2 meals, and 1 shower a day. Please. Every day...

-Unless it is absolutely necessary, don't wear you costume to the convention, and never wear the same outfit all 3 days. That's eewy.

-Don't go it the pool. That is all.

-Pack light. I have a lot of trouble with this. As a cosplayer I nee my make up, sewing kit, rave clothes, normal clothes, costume, and my everyday tolitries, and it takes up a lot of room. I can almost guarantee that everyone who is coming with the club will see my room, and be shocked at how much stuff me and Angel alone can, and will, pack.
With 3 girls and 1 guy in our room, it will be intense. Don't bring what you don't need. If you aren't cosplaying, fit everything in a backpack and be content with it.

-Keep a survival kit. Your costume WILL get damaged. Whether it be a spill or a rip, have a little kit with whatever you need. There will also be a rescue station in the AA.

-Get a map. Dear god get a map. I am one of the... One persons in the club that has been to the new hotel, so I know where everything it. And let me tell you, it's huge.

-Carry your ID!!!1!one

-Call me. If you need anything. Food, water, if you're lost... Ya know.

-Don't fall asleep in the hallways. I can get you to Detour, and you can either not sleep for 3 days or have a parent bring you home and back, or find someone to room with.

-Wear comfy shoes, or at least pack them.

-Don't get your parents mad. If you're at the hotel with them, or they are picking you up at a certain time, do what they say. They aren't going to be happy if you rave until 2am instead, and then they won't let you go again...
