PostSubject: Japanese Word List   Japanese Word List EmptyMon Dec 18, 2006 5:09 pm

H'okay, this is a lot to do, so I'm not going to put all the words I know down, but you can post replies with words or small sentences and stuff, and i'll add them...i might add grammar to this thread so people can put actual sentences together, but that's even more to do >.< (if this gets really big, you can either use the google toolbar or ctrl + f to find words you are looking for!!) Also, quite a bit of this is from memory, so if you find mistakes...feel free to let me know.

KANA CHART!!

Let's start this!!! lol

Pronunciation

About.com wrote:

The Japanese language has only 5 vowels: A, I, U, E, O. They are terse vowels, pronounced clearly and sharply. If one pronounces the vowels in the following sentence one will have their approximate sounds. Please note: the "U" is pronounced with no forward movement of the lips.

Ah (a), we (i) soon (u) get (e) old (o).

Also, Japanese roll their "R"s differently than Spanish or French. The Japanese "R" is a mixture of R and L, while French is R and H and Spanish is just a hardcore R >.O lol

Sentence Structure/ Grammar
*Japanese has only past and present tense, and no gender verbs :3

*English is a subject - verb - object - language (so are French, Spanish etc.) Japanese is a subject - object - verb language (so are Korean, Turkish, etc.) This...sucks. It is probably the hardest thing to master

SUBJECT______OBJECT______VERB
Hobo...............Kitten............Ate
Micah..............TV.................Watched

Get it? No? Neither do the Japanese...

Its getting late, so I won't add any more, but here is a great site for grammar, along with here

ENJOY!! lol

PostSubject: Re: Japanese Word List   Japanese Word List EmptyWed Dec 20, 2006 6:10 pm

lets stay away what is said in anime because allot of artists translate techniques and names in their own manner, just because two kanji are next to eachother does not = that they form an actual word. I my self am guilty of this pleasure for things like Bushi Sakura, or Cherry blossom Warrior. learning japanese is different from learning techniques.

Okay, I added pronunciation, animals, days, months and seasons. I think the months might be wrong though, cause for a while all I knew were the old words for month...heh Neutral

Also, I added more "Advanced Japanese" stuff...fun times right there *dies*

Sorry hobo, Danna literally means "master of the house" or "husband" lol... I'll add it though

EDIT: okay, I added elements, weather, some random words, some sound effects and a couple of fruits. Someone might wanna check them though, cause I'm not feeling so great and I think I might have made some typo-s...lol *dies*

EDIT2: @Hobo: Sorry... I had to resize your siggy. It didn't really bother me cause I'm viewing this on a pretty big screen, but when I was on my dads comp (using IE) your siggy totally ate the screen >.<

Also, I'm gonna add a hiragana and katakana chart, and how to set your computer so you can view asian languages and type them too :3

yeah, don't worry about it >.O

lol, but I'm almost done adding the Hiragana chart...but I was having trouble remembering some of the contracted hiragana and the HTML tags I had to use raped my brain ^^;

...but I'll finish it soon, and add katakana, why? Cause I'm bored...besides, its easier to scroll down that to use google
